MediaTek is working on two flagship chips that will receive ARM Cortex-A78 cores - FREE NEWS

proc.indah.link

MediaTek has recently released many good processors, but in the top segment, the manufacturer is still lagging behind its competitors. However, this may change next year.

Information appeared on the network that MediaTek is working on two flagship processors at once. The first version of the SoC comes with model number MT6839 and the second one is MT6891. If you believe the rumors, the new items will be built on a 6 or even 5-nanometer process technology. In addition, the chips will boast high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores. Naturally, they will also receive 5G network support. Unfortunately, there are no other details about MediaTek’s new flagship SoCs yet.

Presumably, new items will be announced at the end of this year. Perhaps they will become the successors of the Dimensity 1000 and Dimensity 1000+ chips.

AMD May Finally Dethrone NVIDIA - Motley Fool

proc.indah.link

It has been many years since PC gamers have had any real choice when it came to high-end graphics cards. Once you went above a few hundred dollars, graphics chip leader NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) reigned supreme. Rival Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) has been successfully competing at lower price points, but the lucrative high end of the market has eluded the company.

AMD has tried and failed multiple times over the past few years to compete with NVIDIA at the high end. There was the Fury X back in 2015, which failed to disrupt the status quo. A pair of RX Vega graphics cards in 2017 targeted the $400 to $500 price range, but they were playing catch up with NVIDIA cards that had been on the market for more than a year at that point. Then there was the Radeon VII in 2019, which fell short of effectively competing against NVIDIA's RTX 2080.

AMD may finally have cracked the code with its RX 6000 series of graphics cards announced last week. Built on its RDNA 2 architecture, the same architecture that powers the graphics chips in the upcoming generation of game consoles, AMD has apparently made huge strides in both performance and efficiency. If the company's benchmarks are to be believed, NVIDIA will now have to fight to maintain its high-end market share.

Priced to sell

AMD announced three new graphics cards last week: The RX 6800 is the lowest end offering priced at $579; the RX 6800 XT offers a bit more performance for $649; and the RX 6900 XT is the monster of the group, priced at $999. This announcement comes soon after NVIDIA launched its GeForce RTX 3000 series cards, which are selling out across many online retailers.

While third-party reviews of AMD's new graphics cards will provide a detailed look at how they perform, AMD has posted a series of performance benchmarks that should have NVIDIA worried. While AMD's new cards don't beat comparable NVIDIA products across all games, they come out ahead more often than not.

AMD compared the performance of its trio of RX 6000 cards to NVIDIA's RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and last year's RTX 2080 Ti. The RTX 3070 performs similarly to the RTX 2080 Ti, so that older card offers a reasonable proxy.

Here's how the pricing of these cards compare:

RTX 3090

RX 6800 XT

$649

RTX 3080

RX 6800

RTX 3070

$499

AMD's benchmarks for Borderlands 3 running at a 4K resolution at the highest graphics settings spells trouble for NVIDIA. Both the RX 6900 XT and the RX 6800 XT beat NVIDIA's much pricier RTX 3090, and the RX 6800 beats the RTX 2080 Ti by a wide margin.

Given these benchmarks are coming straight from AMD, they should be taken with a grain of salt. But if they're close to accurate, AMD will storm the high end of the graphics card market in November when the RX 3000 series begins to launch.

In the same way that AMD's Ryzen processors have more than caught up to Intel in the CPU market, it now appears that NVIDIA's advantage has disappeared in the graphics card market. A more competitive market is good for gamers and good for AMD, which has suffered through years of being a distant no. 2. It's not so good for NVIDIA, which now has to contend with legitimate alternatives to its most expensive graphics cards.

G.skill launches extreme low-latency memory that's ideal for AMD Ryzen gaming PCs - PC Gamer

proc.indah.link

G.Skill has announced two brand new kits of extreme low-latency DDR4-3600 memory—a 32GB kit smack bang in the sweet spot for gaming and a 64GB kit for memory-heavy applications, such as content creation.

The new low-latency memory kits will be rated to CL14-15-15-35, which matches the Team Extreem ARGB C14 kits currently sitting atop of our best RAM for gaming guide. G.Skill will be offering its extreme low-latency kits under its Trident X Neo, Trident Z Royal, Trident Z RGB, and Ripjaws V series—plenty of options from bling to bare.

All kits are built using Samsung B-Die chips, a fan favourite for overclocking.

Fitting the criteria for AMD Ryzen Zen 2 perfectly, the new kits from G.Skill will be a dab hand for AMD Ryzen builds. As you can see in Chris Szewczyk's performance testing across multiple RAM speeds, a heady mix of both frequency and low latency offers the most consistently high performance in a range of games.

The new AMD Ryzen 5000 processors are reportedly going to run at their best at 4,000MHz (effective) but there's unlikely to be much in it between that and a low-latency 3,600MHz kit. Similarly, Intel systems don't care quite as much for memory speed and latency, but even so low-latency kits often outperform those with 1GHz+ higher frequencies.

A 16GB kit is currently the go-to choice for gaming PCs, but if you want to keep your PC a little ahead of the game, it's a good time to pick up a 32GB kit as they're often going for as little as 16GB kits were just a year back. The higher capacity will ensure you're more than equipped for future games and memory hogs, and it's really satisfying to fill all four motherboard memory slots.
