MediaTek and Qualcomm have introduced their new AI-capable mobile SoC chips designed specifically for gaming smartphones - the Helio G95 and Snapdragon 732G respectively.
MediaTek said its Helio G95 chip that features HyperEngine technologies is able to support multiple cameras, while its support of enhanced Internet connection and AI Super Resolution Display are also able to improve gaming experience.
The Helio G95 chip is integrated with two Cortex-A76 CPUs with a clock speed at 2.05GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPUs for energy saving. It is also packed with an upgraded Mali-g76 MC4 GPU running at a clock speed of 900MHz.
The chip is also equipped with an ultra-low power, always-on DSP that supports dual wake-up word detection, ensuring seamless concurrence between two parallel Voice Wakeup (VoW) functions.
The Helio G95's AI system can also automatically switch devices' connection between Wi-Fi and LTE if one of them begins suffering from weakening signal. AI Super Resolution Display provides improved image quality for multimedia streaming services or video conferencing, but cut bandwidth usage by up to 75%.
The Helio G90 series, including the latest G95, is targeting mainly the high-end segment, while its G85, G80 and G70 are eyeing the mid-range sector. MediaTek also recently unveiled the Helio G25 and G35 to cater demand from the mainstream segment.
Qualcomm disclosed that Snapdragon 732G has already been adopted by a smartphone from Poco, a Xiaomi sub-brand. The chip is equipped with Qualcomm's Kryo 470 CPU Prime, which has a clock speed of 2.3GHz, and Adreno 618 GPU for graphics output. The chip is enabled by Qualcomm's fourth-generation AI engine to help improve its power consumption.
Snapdragon 732G features the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem.
