From its studio in downtown Denver, Anderson Mason Dale Architects creates designs for colleges and universities, schools, libraries, cultural venues, justice facilities, and housing.

Its work includes the Denver International Airport Hotel and Transportation Center, the Science Building on the Auraria Campus and Colorado’s Ocean Journey at the Downtown Aquarium.

The firm, which works in the Rocky Mountain West, has received the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Firm Award three times for its “distinguished body of work.” Anderson Mason Dale was named the 2017 Firm of the Year by AIA Colorado.

“Our firm’s founder John Anderson had a deep commitment to focusing on the places that we all share and that bring us together – schools, colleges, public buildings,” said David Pfeifer, president of Anderson Mason Dale Architects.

“We’re proud to continue that tradition. We feel connected to this place where we live, work and play.”

The company’s culture is driven by a collaborative process that promotes creativity and communication. Although other employers may focus on providing options like telecommuting, Anderson Mason Dale sees the value of working together in the same space.

Instead, the company works to provide flexible work hours, maternity and paternity leave. At Anderson Mason Dale, “our greatest asset is our people,” Pfeifer said.

“We work to tailor the workflow so they can get their work done but also manage all of the other demands in their lives,” he said. “We work to be nimble. We do have working parents, family obligations, difficult commutes. We have talented employees and we want to hang on to them, so we work to make accommodations.”

The company offers employees health, dental, life insurance and long term disability premium coverage. It also offers a 401(k) plan with generous matching, plus vacation, sick and holiday pay. But perhaps its most appealing perk is the opportunity for employees to participate in an overseas retreat every other year by leasing lodging from spring to fall to provide the chance to travel for architectural investigation, reflection and relaxation.
