Micromax, India’s homegrown smartphone manufacturer, is set to return to the Indian smartphone market with a number of new devices, and now, a new report states that the brand will return to the market with two smartphones. The report further claims that both the phones will be targeted at the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, with one of the two phones falling in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment as well. The Micromax In series of phones, which is reportedly going to be the commercial name for both the phones, are seemingly set to be powered by MediaTek Helio G85 and Helio G35 SoCs.
Micromax In: Expected specs
According to a report by The Mobile Indian, the Micromax In series is set to get two new phones. The sub-Rs 10,000 variant of the Micromax In phones is set to run on the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, and will apparently come in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants. The smartphone, according to The Mobile Indian, will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, and have a ‘stock’ Android interface that will likely run on Android 10. The phone may also have a 6.5-inch HD+ display, which is fairly standard for a sub-Rs 10,000 phone in the present market.
However, while all of this is regular, what seems unusual is the RAM and camera configuration combination. According to the report, this Helio G35-powered variant will come with a 2GB RAM variant, which will also get a 13MP + 2MP dual-rear camera setup and an 8MP front camera. It will also reportedly get a 3GB RAM variant, but instead of having the same camera setup, this variant will get a 13MP + 5MP + 2MP triple rear camera setup, as well as a 13MP front camera.
Typically, different RAM variants have not seen to bear different camera configurations, and a change in the camera modules have traditionally been offered in different smartphones only. As a result, it would appear that the 3GB RAM variant might actually be the Helio G85-powered smartphone from the Micromax In lineup, and not a second RAM variant of the Helio G35-powered device.
Both the smartphones, the report indicates, will be priced between Rs 7,000 and Rs 15,000, and may launch as soon as November 2.
