This year's Black Friday has been bigger than ever before and we saw products go on sale back in October. While stock levels have struggled to keep up throughout the year thanks to the global pandemic, certain products continue to be as rare as a shooting star sighting. These include NVIDIA RTX 30 series and AMD Radeon RX GPUs, as well as Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.
There have been some excellent deals on last-gen like the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, but what if you want the latest and greatest from AMD. The Ryzen 5000 family of CPUs have already launched, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one anywhere.
It didn't take AMD long to run out of new Ryzen 5000 series processors to ship to retailers. Whether this was a case of the company purposely releasing a short supply of stock or demand truly exceeded expectations, we'll not know for some time to come. It was clear people were excited about the new processors. AMD has been on a roll the past few years and hasn't slowed down.
Unfortunately for AMD, the launch and subsequent short supply of processors couldn't have come at a worse time as the tech community is still recovering from the lack of any RTX 30 GPUs from NVIDIA. If that wasn't bad enough, it seems AMD's latest RX GPUs are facing similar issues too, so it's certainly affecting all vendors at this point.
Product shortages aren't anything new to the world, but at a time when people are looking at possible upgrades to their PCs and with Black Friday upon us, demand is high and there are plenty of customers out there who simply want to get their hands on the shiny new tech. Just how long it'll take AMD to get a handle on the situation isn't clear.
Right now, you can still upgrade your PC or build a powerful new gaming rig with AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors or even a Threadripper if you feel like venturing outside the box. The excellent AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is frequently on sale, but even when not it offers great value.
At least, for the time being, you can purchase motherboards with an AMD A520, B550, or X570 chipset and have support for both Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 processors. Check out our round-up of all the best PC part deals for Black Friday to see if there's an alternative to your Ryzen 5000 series desires.
