AMD CEO Lisa Su is expected to host a virtual CES 2021 keynote on January 12, and word on the street is that the Zen3-based mobility processors should be revealed during that event. Previous leaks revealed that the new Ryzen 5000 laptop-grade CPUs will once again be split into low-power U-series variants and high-performance H-series models. While the U-series is supposed to include a somewhat confusing mix of refreshed Zen2 (Lucienne) and new Zen3 (Cezanne) processors, the H-series will most likely include only new Zen3-based SKUs. Info regarding the specs for the upcoming H-series is quite limited at this point, but, thanks to a new Geekbench entry spotted by TUM_APISAK, we now get to find out a few more details.
The Geekbench entry comes from a Lenovo 82L5 laptop equipped with a Ryzen 7 5800H 8-core / 16-thread processor. We also see some suspiciously low scores, and, according to Videocardz, this is probably caused by a frequency lock to 500 MHz, so these results are not really relevant. There are, however, a few relevant specs worth mentioning. First of all, the identifier line mentions Family 25, which is associated with Zen3. Then, the 3.20 GHz base frequency is 300 MHz higher than that of the Ryzen 7 4800H, and we suspect that a similar bump could also apply to the boost clock, plus the L3 cache now comes with 16 MB instead of 8 MB.
Even though it is not specified in the Geekbench entry, we know from previously leaked roadmaps that the iGPUs are still Vega-based, unfortunately. Hopefully, AMD could at least add a few more GPU cores per SKU. There will also be processors with Zen3 cores and Navi-based iGPUs, but do not expect to see these sooner than the second half of 2021.
