New leak further reiterates AMD Ryzen 7000 Raphael will be based on 5 nm Zen 4 and feature Navi 2x integrated graphics - Notebookcheck.net

It is not exactly surprising, but Twitter user @sepeuwmjh seems to have filled a missing piece of an earlier leaked roadmap puzzle indicating that "Raphael" is indeed AMD's upcoming mainstream desktop offering for 2022. Raphael will be a 5 nm part based on the Zen 4 architecture and would sport a Navi 2 iGPU. This latest information fits into an earlier roadmap puzzle that was teased by @MebiuW, which back then also indicated other codenames such as Dragon Crest and Rembrandt APUs for mobile.

The codenamed "Raphael" for a future generation of AMD Zen processors first started doing the rounds when known leaker @KOMACH_ENSAKA, in May last year, put forth a roadmap indicating AMD processor codenames for 2021 and 2022. Later, in August, @MebiuW revealed an image snippet that contained just the word "Ra", which was speculated to be Raphael. @MebiuW later leaked Intel and AMD roadmaps for 2021 and 2022 that did indicate Raphael would be based on the 5 nm Zen 4 architecture and have an RDNA2 iGPU.

Raphael will be an interesting part to watch out for. It is not only the first 5 nm x86 desktop part but also the first mainstream AMD CPU to offer on-die integrated graphics negating the need to use a discrete graphics option unless really needed. So far, AMD has been offering only revised Vega iGPUs even in the latest Cezanne and Lucienne mobile APUs despite already having RDNA2 Navi 2x discrete cards on the market.

By transitioning to a 5 nm node, AMD could gain back some value die space to finally incorporate a capable integrated graphics solution. Current mainstream Ryzen offerings top-out at a 105 W TDP, so it remains to be seen if Raphael would change that and how this TDP is shared between the CPU and iGPU cores.

Much like Intel, AMD could be looking to offer both desktop and mobile parts with iGPUs and will likely initiate this change with an RDNA2 iGPU that would be part of both Raphael and Rembrandt. For those not aware, Rembrandt will be the successor to Cezanne and is currently expected to feature eight cores and 16 threads based on a 6 nm Zen 3+ architecture with support for DDR5/LPDDR5 memory.
